Professional achievements, roles and affiliations
Sandro Graca, MSc, Lic. TCM, FABORM
Sandro is a PhD student at the University of Wolverhampton in the UK and a dedicated researcher in the field of women’s health, with a primary focus on Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS).
He is the Social Media Officer for the AE-PCOS Society and as a member of their Early-Career Special Interest Group he contributed to the updates to the international PCOS guidelines, which play a vital role in shaping best practices in the field.
Sandro is a published researcher in the field of menstrual and reproductive health, Fellow of the ABORM (Acupuncture & TCM Board of Reproductive Medicine), and one of the Directors at Evidence Based Acupuncture. In 2023, he joined the Board of the Society for Acupuncture Research.
Originally from Portugal, Sandro obtained his Licentiate in TCM at the Irish College of TCM in Dublin, followed by a four-week program on acupuncture and moxibustion at the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine.
Holding an MSc from Middlesex University, UK, in conjunction with the Northern College of Acupuncture (NCA) in the UK, Sandro’s research on acupuncture for PCOS earned him a Merit, showcasing his commitment to evidence-based practice and innovative approaches to treatment.
Sandro’s research endeavours extend beyond PCOS, encompassing Cochrane Review Groups focusing on acupuncture for dysmenorrhea and assisted reproductive technology, as well as Chinese herbal medicine for endometriosis. He is also the Director for International Membership of the Obstetrical Acupuncture Association (OBAA) the Social Media & Outreach Editor of the European Journal of Integrative Medicine.
